Born in Washington, DC, Sofía Campoamor first started writing songs to make school projects more fun. This lighthearted approach to academics led her to study music composition at Yale University, where she performed around the world as the first woman member of the Whiffenpoofs.
Campoamor now creates original indie folk in Brooklyn, and sings as the Head Cantor and section leader with the Oratory Choir of St. Boniface. She is a community music facilitator at Gaia Music Collective, hosting collaborative open mics, songwriting circles, improvised circle sings and one-day choirs.
Campoamor’s debut album "if you knew, i couldn't tell" blends dreamy acoustic soundscapes with incisive lyricism in tales of love, longing, and friendship; her second project, “with all the lights on,” delves into an exploration of the body through themes of mortality, chronic illness, queerness, and intimacy.
2025 highlights include a collaboration with ambient composer Kevin Keller on original plainchant album “Arcadia” and a residency at Bethany Arts Community.
